Advice and Support
What is a Parent Support Adviser?
Parenting is not an easy job, and at times things can get tough. Like every other parent you want what is best for your child.
A Parent Support Adviser is to support you and your child to get the very best from your school by providing support, advice and information. They will help you with any worries you may have in relation to your child’s education, behaviour or attendance, and provide support on how best to deal with it.
As a Parent Support Adviser I will aim to support and help you in the following ways:
- Provide direct, confidential and emotional support for you as parents/carers
- Offer support with your child/rens behaviour.
- Provide information about school matters.
- Give opportunities to meet with other parents/carers through regular events.
- ‘Drop in’ and coffee morning sessions.
- Provide families with learning opportunities.
- Offer home visits.
- Provide access to parenting programmes.
- Finding other services to help.
- Approachable to solve problems.
- Offer support when changing classes, leaving or starting school.
How to get help from a PSA?
Initially the school may contact you to see if you would like to be put in touch with your PSA.
At other times it may be that you would just like to speak to the PSA for a brief chat to see if further help is needed.
If you are unsure, just pick up the phone, text or email and the PSA will answer any questions you may have about the service or speak to your school.
